Title: The Map Collection at the University of Chicago

Location: Regenstein Library, University of Chicago, 100 East 57th Street, Chicago, Ill.

The main part of the program will be a visit to the Regenstein’s Map Room. Kathleen Zar, a member of the Society, will introduce us to the collection and some of its special features and discuss how it serves the university.

The preceding social hour will be in the Rare Book Room where the current exhibit is drawn from the Joseph Shaffner Collection in the History of Science, one of the very finest collections of its type. Also on display will be materials from the Albert Meyer Papers, including maps showing urban development in India.

This meeting was cancelled due to a snowstorm.

Title: The Ayer Map of Teotihuacan

This will be an unusual opportunity for us all, as Prof. Kubler is a recognized international authority in his field and the map he will discuss is one of two extant manuscript “Aztec” maps, very rare and unusual.
